Bad Again

Well, I didn't mean to leave it so long between posts again. I was ill towards the end of last week and pretty much stayed off the computer. In fact for about three days I pretty much stayed horizontal. Bad for communication but good for knitting.

Today will be about socks but I have also finished the Hidcote Garden Shawl. It is so gorgeous and I will post photos soon.

I finished my Blueberry Waffle socks. Still love 'em!

I also knit the fastest pair of socks EVAH! The yarn is Fyberspates 100% Blue Faced Leicester and is DK. I cast on the first sock after lunch on Sunday and cast off the second sock before lunch the following day. Just simple stocking stitch but they look great and fit fine. I used 3.5mm needles.

I then started Denmark from Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road. Once again its DK wool, Wendy Emu 100% superwash wool and I finished the first sock on the day I started it and cast on for the second. Then I was seduced away from socks by the Hidcote shawl. I'm on the foot of the second sock so they will be finished by the end of the weekend.

Once I finish Denmark I will have achieved the goal I set for myself of two pairs of socks a month for Summer of Socks 2007. :-) I'm going to try to squeeze out another pair before the official end date of 21st September because I like to be an over-achiever!

WIP It, WIP It Good

A quick report on the 'other than socks' WIPs I have on the needles.

Corazon mitten from Knitty. This is a lovely pattern! I'm using Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK in sage green and cream and 3.5mm needles. These mittens will be very warm and smooshy to wear. This picture is of the first mitten which I've since finished and I'm just past the ribbing on the second mitten.

Square number 4 for Lizard Ridge, also from Knitty. This one is knit from colour # 138. I'm sticking to my goal of a square a month so far but I think I might up it to two squares otherwise I'll still be knitting this when I'm 90.

Another shawl sample for Kerrie at Hip Knits. This is the Hidcote Garden shawl by Miriam Felton using Hip Knits laceweigt cashmere. The field of flowers bit at the top got quite boring to knit after a while but now I've hit the garden beds section and it is going along much more quickly. (edited to add: the picture shows the top of the shawl at the bottom, the diamond pattern just starting to show at the top is the garden beds section. Bit confusing the way I originally wrote it!) I'm about halfway through Chart 6 at the moment. I haven't knit on it for a few days because...

I've been on a sock binge! Full report later in the week. :-)

(Apologies for the dark pictures, our current British summer weather means dark days and terrible light conditions. The dreadful summer this year has seriously made me think about moving back to Australia!!)

Me Is A Bad Blogger

I've been a bad blogger! I haven't posted here for about three weeks and really can only blame my own apathy. I still haven't fixed my own computer but once again its due to apathy. I think if I didn't have Mum's computer I would have sorted it out ages ago. I've promised myself I will do it. Sometime. Soon. Really.

I haven't even been doing an awful lot of knitting either. I've had another bad ear infection and have spent a lot of time feeling sorry for myself and reading. :-) There has been some knitting!

Faysie's socks are complete. I actually finished these on 31st July. They are for my bestest friend's Mum, Fay. Fay is like my second mum and is responsible for an awful lot of my crafty addiction! She started it all by teaching me ceramics while I was still at school. She is an amazing quilter too and made a bag for me that I use as my 'big project' knitting bag. I must take a picture of it and post it here.

The next pair of socks was cast on immediately but so far I've only completed one. The yarn is Silkwood sock yarn in the 'Blueberries' colour. I bought this last October at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace. I'm using the Blueberry Waffle pattern and I really like the way its looking.

Well, I have a few other things to show but I'l leave those for another post. It won't be so long between posts this time!
